The Siemens S7-200

Here at Germaine Systems we have been using the Siemens S7-200 since their introduction, in fact we were one of the first companies in the UK to use them.

Even though the S7-200s are the babies of the SIEMENS range, we've yet to find anything they can't do.

Germaine Systems and the Siemens S7-200
Siemens S7-200 working in a Germaine Systems project
Here are just some of the reasons we use it as our preferred system
  • The Siemens S7-200 can talk directly to Micromaster with the USS protocol - out of the box - no extra bits to buy :)
  • The Siemens S7-200 can talk MODBUS as master or slave
  • The Siemens S7-200 can be connected to an Ethernet,  PROFIBUS network, even the Internet, visit our test rig.
  • Several Siemens S7-200 CPUs can be connected together in a network over several hundred metres - again this is out of the box functionality, no other modules or cards.
  • The programming software, STEP 7 Win, does not use the flaky token protection system that STEP 7 and RSLogix use.
  • The software can work in IEC1131-3,  the international programming language, and although the current version only works under microsoft windows, it is quite stable.
  • The CP243-IT module can communicate using FTP, email and using java beans on web pages .
  • There are several text screens available, the TD100, TP200 and the TP177 micro touch panels,  They are all low cost and simple to program. The TP177 micro runs embedded LINUX , and is solid as a rock
