Capflow control pcb manual

ACS cfc2 pcb   Fords capflow PCB

This PCB was designed and built using latest techniques to give an enhanced and reliable replacement for any capflow PCB in FORDS capping presses.

The controller was badged for sale by two companies, Aluminium Capping Services and BWI - Fords Packaging Systems. The unit is still available from both of these companies, we do not supply direct.

CONFIGURING THE PCB - ** WARNING - DAMAGE CAN RESULT FROM INCORRECT CONFIGURATION **

The PCB can be configured to work with the LAMP and photocell or any of the later Infra RED sensors.

To set the PCB to work with the LAMP and photocell the BLUE jumpers must be fitted to pins 2 and 3 of BOTH SW1 and SW2. The PCB is marked LAMP next to these pins To change the configuration of the unit simply move the blue jumpers.

To set the PCB to work with any of the later Infra RED sensors, the BLUE jumpers must be fitted to pins 1 and 2 of BOTH SW1 and SW2. The PCB is marked I. RED next to these pins.

ADJUSTING THE MISSING CAP TIME AND SENSITIVITY

There are two adjustments on the main PCB. They are both set during manufacture but may need further adjustment in the field

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PRESS MAY NOT BE ISOLATED EVEN IF THE POWER LED IS OFF

Use the trimming tool provided to set the small potentiometers without damage. Both adjustments can be made without removing the PCB from the press

The Sensitivity adjustment is next to the power LED and alters the level of the light to dark changes of the sensor. The control is set at the factory and is usually only changed for slow machines or large diameter caps. Fully anticlockwise the press may not stop on build-back, fully clockwise the press may not start or the clutch would pull in and out as each cap passed the sensor.

The other adjustment on the board is the Missing Cap Time. This sets the time from the clutch coming in AND the sensor being uncovered, to pulling in the stop relay. Normally this time is set to be just longer than the time between caps. It has a range of just under 1 second (FULLY CLOCKWISE) to 12 seconds (FULLY ANTICLOCKWISE) and is set at the factory at about 1.5 seconds. This setting may need adjustment on machines that run slowly or which ramp up and down during operation.
